    AFDP display problem with Radeon 5770

    Hello,

    I recently upgraded my computer and display and am trying to run Aerofly Professional Deluxe at a native screen resolution of 1920x1200. Only a portion of the 1920x1200 screen is displayed; the lower and right-hand portions are truncated. The new system is:

    AFPD version 1.11.07.21, no addons
    Processor: Intel Core i7-950
    Memory: 6GB
    O/S: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium (6.1 build 7600) with DirectX 11
    Graphics: Sapphire Radeon 5770 with 1GB DDR5 with 64-bit Catalyst 10.12 (Driver version 8.801.0.0)
    Display: HP ZR24w

    The tm.log file is appended below.

    I moved the display to a second system running Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium with an Nvidia 8600GT and verified that it correctly displayed 1920x1200. So my questions are:

    Is AFDP known to work with 64-bit Windows 7 and a Radeon 5770? (If yes, I have some other problem.)
    If not, does this configuration run with Aerofly 5? (I would like to upgrade.)

    Hi Don, a few questions. What's the native resolution of your monitor? Did you uninstall the previous ATI driver before installing the new 10.12 driver? When you upgraded your system, did you reinstall windows?

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the quick reply. I forgot to mention at the outset that AFPD runs fine in a window... it's only full-screen that has problems. And I tried several other full-screen resolutions; they all had the problem.

    This was an all-new system with a clean Windows 7 install. The monitor has a native 1920x1200 resolution. And no, I didn't uninstall the previous ATI driver, I just ran the Catalyst 10.12 download. I didn't mention that I had the same problem with the previous ATI driver version... in fact that's why I installed the latest. Also, I have a copy of FSOne (original version) that I installed as a test. It has problems too.

    Don, try the following:

    1. Go to the config directory of AFPD, by default this is at c:\program files\ipacs\aerofly professional deluxe\config
    2. Make a backup of the file main.mcf
    3. Open main.mcf with a simple text editor like notepad or word
    4. Look for the first 3 lines and change them to:

    window_width 1298
    window_height 811
    window_fullscreen 1

    Tried the change to main.mcf. AFPD ended up in windowed mode.

    BTW I was looking at the Window system logs and found the ACEEventLog created by ATI/Catalyst. Any use?

    Please change the numbers to:

    window_width 1920
    window_height 1200
    window_fullscreen 1

    You could adjust the width and height until the window fits the screen

    This could be some videocard driver compatibility issue with your system and I rarely see it. However, you can use the mcf file to force the window size and it's not really a problem anymore. I am running AFPD and AF5 about the same system config as yours without a similar "problem". On the AF5 running in your system, you could also use the mcf file if you face a similar issue.
