Anyone have a realistic foamy for AFPD?
I'm really frustrated with AFPD. I went from AFP to AFPD and can't get comfortable.
Most all of the planes, whether giant scale or foamy seem too heavy, they skid, tip stall, yada yada yada.
I wish I knew more about how to fix what I'd like to see but I don't.
For instance, if too much elevator is given, the planes just kind of sit there and rotate around the lateral axis.
If you point a plane straight up, it just kind of falls tail first in an unrealistic manner.
Not floaty at all like a 40% plane, or a foamy.
Anyway, does anyone have a realistic foamy I can try?
Something that acts and behaves like it should.

Bob, which particular GS and foam models have you tried with this behaviour? Under AFPD general settings, what is your simulation speed %? What type of controller are you using? Could you describe the elev, ail, rud settings e.g. throws, expos and mixes that you're using in AFPD and your controller? Thanks

I would have to say that it doesn't matter what models I've tried, either Giant or foam.
I've fiddled with the simulation speeds down to 50%.
I am using a JR 9503 because I'd like to fly the sim with the same transmitter that I go to the field with.
Maybe that's the problem.
Another thing is that I have to dial the throttle curve down to almost nothing for it to work.
Also, if a plane is trimmed for straight and level flight upright, as soon as I go inverted it dives to the ground.
The throws, expo, and mixes are just standard stuff other than the fact that the travel is set to 150%.
From there I dumb down the dual rates to get the throw I want.
Maybe it is the transmitter which would be unfortunate.
I'm going to look for my stock AFPD controller.
I have to say that I don't remember having this problem with AFP and the 9503.
There is one giant scale that is almost OK and it's the TOC Yak, the purple one, and one small plane that's not bad.
It's a small Biplane called the 3D star.
What's different about those two planes that makes them flyable?
How can I make a plane "floaty" in AFPD?

There's nothing wrong with the 9503. In fact I recommend you use the same radio as you use in the field.
I would suggest that you set up a new model in your radio specifically for AFPD. Disable any program mixes, and return the throttle curve to default. Then calibrate your radio in AFPD at high rates. The simulation speed should also be at 100% for a seasoned flyer. Tone down or disable your wind and turbulence settings for the time being.
I could not find the two models that you mentioned, the TOC Yak and the 3D Star biplane, in AFPD and any of the addons. They are third party models made by users. Some of these models are not optimized and may not fly well. I would suggest you start off with some of the AFPD stock GS and foamy models. If you have the Platinum version, you would have a complete set of all the addons.
I have imported models from AFP into AFPD e.g. the Cap232 Breitling and the physics are comparable in both. The Cap232 is a 35-40% model and it feels as "floaty" as my real 35% model. You could try importing the Cap232 Breitling from AFP and compare the flight in AFPD. I find that the flight physics in AFPD is comparable to AFP, except that AFPD has much better graphics including photorealistic sceneries.
