Default Odd Frame-rate behavior (Mac)

I've been using AF 5.7 for several months now. The last week or so, I'm finding that after several minutes of use, the frame rate starts dropping until the program becomes unusable (30 or below). I've tried restarting AF, quitting every other application, rebooting the computer, unplugging/replugging the USB adapter, all to no effect. Eventually the frame rate comes back for a while but I don't know what makes that happen. When it's slow, Activity Monitor shows no unusual processor use. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro (2 years old), 8GB memory, OS 10.6.8.

Thanks.

Your graphics card could be faulty or overheating. Please post the full content of your tm.log file.

Default RE: Odd Frame-rate behavior (Mac)

What is your graphics quality settings in aerofly5? Try using medium to low settings and check your fps.

It is set to High, but lowering it was one of the first things I tried. Right now it's working fine (90-100 fps), but when it gets sluggish, it falls below 30.

You tmlog seems fine. You've got to check your system for programs in the background, try disabling icloud, check for card overheating and test your graphics card with other graphics intensive games (the 6750M is not a strong card!), also try running from ac adapter and disable your laptop battery power save mode. Also run with 3D sceneries and not 4D sceneries, and disable extra features like smoke, clouds, trees etc.

Default RE: Odd Frame-rate behavior (Mac)

I think I got it! It was your comment about the graphics chip possibly overheating. iStat menu was showing it at over 70 degree (C) when the program fps was low. So I got to thinking: "Why is it overheating lately, when for months I could run for an hour without going below 100 fps"? Then I realized I haven't cleaned the fans on my computer for a long time. I cleaned them out (lots of dust), and so far things are looking good again. The GPU is *****g at about 65 degrees, and that seems to be enough to make a difference.

Thanks for the help.
