You could download the latest patch, depending on what type of video card you have and what type of addons you have http://www.aerofly.com/afpd/downloads.html If you're looking for free models look here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5044008/tm.htm

Mike,

My video card is Nvidia GeForce 8400Gs (No driver updates). With Direct X 10. My CPU is HP Media Center m8277c with Vista

Intel Core Duo E6750.

I live in Salt Lake City and the dongle has failed 3 times in the past as a result of Static Electricity.

Last evening for the first time in 3 years I tried to start AFPD. It took 3 tries in 3 different USB ports before the USB connection was detected. ( this also happened frequently on my previous computer with XP) I tried to calibrate (failed) but had not read the instructions and decided to go to bed, read the instructions, and try again this morning.

Well now the USB cable is not detected at all.

BTW, I have grounded the TX and myself and did not detect any static electricity.

I suspect the dongle has failed again. Where do I purchase a new Dongle?

Ikarus replaced the dongle free each time it failed. I was told this is/was a problem in colder dryer climates.

I went to the aerofly.com website and saw no patches for 1.08.17.

So do I need a patch?

I went to the aerofly.com website and saw no patches for 1.08.17.

"For non AddOn users: Click here to get AeroFly Professional Deluxe Patch to version 1.8.0.25 (860kB)
( This patch is NOT compatible for AddOn 3 and AddOn 4, please use V1.11.07.19 instead)
For AddOn users: Click here to get AeroFly Professional Deluxe Patch to version 1.9.07.11 (2.1MB)
( This patch is NOT compatible for AddOn 3 and AddOn 4, please use V1.11.07.19 instead)"

How can you miss it?

I guess because the way I read that line, it says that it is a patch to 1.08.25, not to 1.08.17.

Take pity on us old guys.[8D][8D]

I hear ya. What they meant is "patch to bring you up to ...."
I would have worded it differently. It still is far better than Chinglish.

I have the photo, but it would be easier if I can send it via an attachment to an e mail. The e mail is ready. If that is not possible then since I have never up loaded a photo I will need some guidance.

The cable is 3 or 4 years old. I think it is a repaired cable. The wires are pewter in color and the "chip" has black heat shrink around it.

Which radio are you using with AFPD? What type of adapter cable are you using between the usb interface cable and radio?

oldokie, looks like your usb interface is dead. Send it in to Hobbico for a replacement usb cable http://www.hobbico.com/techsupport/index.html Keep the adapter cable with you.

I just talked to Terry in software support at Hobbico. He said that since they took over AFPD that they have had a very difficult time getting parts from Germany.

He was not sure they had the USB cables in stock. He was going to check and get back with me.

My fingers are crossed.

Mike, I just spoke to a Hobbico tech rep regarding the cable. He says that Hobbico took over the support for AFPD in September and as of this date they are still waiting for replacement parts. There are apparently a lot of folks in the same situation that I am, ie waiting for a replacement cable. Ikarus must not believe in customer support with regard to replacement cables.

Do you have any influence with the mfg?

I am just about to purchase RF Basic to have something to play with.
