How good is AFPD for Heli's?
Hi,
I'm new to RC Flying, and getting into Heli's. Been looking at Sims to get for realistic heli flights, and to date, XTR seems to get the most raps for real RC Heli experience. However, feature wise, G3 and AFPD look better.
My question is, how much have the AFPD guys catered for Heli flyers? Is it really designed for Plane people, so I should look elsewhere for a Heli sim?
I see 2 posts here - one asking where to see and alter CP, and one saying Idle doesn't work for Heli's, neither of which have a response.
The impression seems to be that G3 has added Heli's as an after thought. AFPD looks like a great plane products, but can someone convince me that AFPD is great for Heli's too?
Thanks.

Mine works with my Eclipse. He has a Futaba 6XH
I fly only helis
I am very happy with the helis in AFP. So they must be better in AFPD
The Fury in AFP/AFPD is GREAT . After some tweeking , I have the Raptor flying very close to my R50 V2
IMO , you cannot go wrong with AFP or AFPD with helis

Ian The aerofly raptor Flys very well if you can be bothered to set it up, to say it is rubbish is what you normallly speak. It flys very well when set up and even better in deluxe.

Jason, have you tried delux yet? what is it like?
i just think that the raptor in AFP has no momentum or power, and the UC breaks all the time[]

I am assuming you know but this if not here goes.
You have to land a heli like its on butter. Real , R/C models and in Sims .
If you Hover Mid-Stick your Tx normal Throttle should be simular 0, 40, 50, 60, 100. This will soften the landing
If you Hover 3/4 Stick like I do your Curve should look simular to this 0, 30, 40, 50, 100
The stock AFP I found to be under powered . Right away I added more Engine HP and Piro

RE: How good is AFPD for Heli's?
whats piro???
I have only hovered a real RC helicopter. ive had about 3 flights. i dont personally have a helicopter but id like one. all the helis ive flown have hovered at 1/2 power, so do my AFP helis.
When i do autos, which i can do with the milli, fury and three dee it touches down, and settles. However this raptors head slows up fast then lands with a little bump, then breaks! i can live with it, its just a bit annoying. ill try putting the pitch in more gradualy next time i auto.
Thanks
Ian

The R30 in not famous for good auto like most 30 size helis. Small blades
The Larger ones like the R 50/60, Fury and Milli are much better.
What helps Autos for the AFP R30 in max out the blade weight to 100 gms and lengthen them to 135mm

RE: How good is AFPD for Heli's?
Is there a way to prevent the landing skids from breaking so easily? I've tried to auto the Raptor on AFPD and I can get it down once out of maybe 20 tries - it seems like the skids break with the slightest bounce, which is not very realistic - I know I've bounced my Raptor 30 harder than this in real life

Even though I fly an R50 V2 . I fly the AFP Fury for practicing Autos
The gear is much tougher. and is a very Nice Flying Heli
I tuned the Fury to fly like my Raptor 50
Looks like a Fury, flys like my Raptor. I go for Heli realism
