Default add-on planes ???

I have downloaded a ton of aircraft from the rc sim web site..but not every plane installs and I dont know why...as for scenery I cant get them to download..I am using the correct procedure (I think)..I download as a zipped file go to the c drive go into program files and select ipacs then open aircraft and create new folder to unzip the file typing in exactly as shown in title then after unzipped and in the aircraft folder I re enter the aerofly but sometimes it takes and other times nothing..

Is there a limit to the number of downloaded planes??I tend to think not consideringg the amount of free space on my pc..second is the size of the scenery file a consideration for downloading??

and last is there any other sites I may not be aware of beside aerofly and rc sim..

gotta tell you IKARUS afp is awesome!! G2 was ok and likely G3 is good but the price at omp is so much less..try downloading all the helis and planes for free!!! nada.. happy new year..

Default RE: add-on planes ???

They are working on updating the AFP planes and sceneries now. But if you don't want to wait you can do it yourself.

This is from Rodeo.

1. If you copy a FREE model which was made for AFP, to AFPD, it could be displayed white without texture.

Reason:
In AFP a bitmap file could be named as BMP or TMT.
In AFPD a bitmap file MUST be called BMP, the TMT format is slightly different.

Solution:
So you have to rename the existing TMT files to BMP, if they ARE BMP.
You can easily check this by the size of the files:
256x256 193 kb
512x512 769 kb

2. In AFPD there is a new feature of model preview and preview text.
Of course the AFP models don't have these 2 files.

Reason: Nobody could predict this feature.

Solution: You can live without preview.
Or if you want to add them, you must name them
preview-AIRCRAFTNAME.BMP
preview-AIRCRAFTNAME.TXT

The BMP is a file with a size of 256x256 kb, 16 million colors.
The TXT is just a standard text file with about 9 lines.

Fly your aircraft in AFPD, press F11 to take a screenshot.
The screenshot is stored in ...\aerofly professional deluxe\screenshots
Open the screenshot with a drawing program.
Cut the square area you want to display in the preview, resize this area to 256x256 pixels.
Save it as described above.

3. If you copy an AFP-scenery to AFPD, it will show up very dark.
Who switched the light off?

Reason: Ipacs changed the lighting section in the GEO files.

Solution:
Open a GEO file from AFPD, for example farmland.geo.
Copy these lines:

LIGHT_POSITION 0 0.20 -0.40 1.00 0
LIGHT_AMBIENT 0 0.55 0.55 0.55
LIGHT_DIFFUSE 0 1.00 1.00 1.00
LIGHT_SPECULAR 0 1.00 1.00 1.00

Open the AFP scenery GEO file.
Replace these lines by the lines above:

LIGHTAMBIENT 0.80 0.80 0.80
LIGHT1AMBIENT 0.00 0.00 0.00
LIGHT1DIFFUSE 1.00 1.00 1.00
LIGHT1SPECULAR 0.70 0.70 0.70
LIGHT1DIRECTIONTHETA 45
LIGHT1DIRECTIONPHI 245
LIGHT2AMBIENT 0.00 0.00 0.00
LIGHT2DIFFUSE 0.50 0.50 0.50
LIGHT2SPECULAR 0.50 0.50 0.50
LIGHT2DIRECTIONTHETA 15
LIGHT2DIRECTIONPHI 0

That's all, rather easy to move a scenery from AFP to AFPD.

Default RE: add-on planes ???

i downloaded one called "Abend" from RC-sim.de that was made for AFPD and i can't seem to get it to show up. I named the folder the same as the .geo or whatever extension file, and i still can't seem to fly in abend. Any pointers?

Thanks,

I took omp recommendation and got started with the aerofly pro but wonder what I am missing not having the deluxe..my G2 controller works just dandy and though I havent got some sim planes I have a great variety already..I will say flying heli's on afp is much easier than my old G2.. the solution is ok but I am not very smart with this stuff but will give it a try ..

For the scenery's for aerofly pro. If you are downloading the panaramic scenes the pic's are .jpg files and must be converted to .bmp files first in order to work. You cannot just simply rename them this will not work. Go and download free trial of ACDSee 5.0 and convert the files first to .bmp files. Also be sure and follow instructs and put the (3 files) from the folder where they need to be. Hope this helps.
