Default No Transmitter Signal Detected

Happy New Year To All,

I received my AFPD upgrade w/USB interface and, I installed the program as per instructions. Prior to re-starting, I shut down the computer, then, conected the USB interface cable provided and my Futaba Super 8U. After re-starting the computer, I started the program and attempted to calibrate my TX, but I received the error message that "no transmitter signal was detected". That seems strange because I had been using the 8U with AFP. The curious thing is that the software recognized my G2 USB controller. It was with this controller that I was able to begin to appreciate the investment.

Anybody have any ideas about how to rectify the problem? The TX was turned on and the RF module removed as per instructions. The AFPD update has also been downloaded and installed.

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Roy

The first thing I did was download the updates from the Aerofly site, but I'm having almost the same problem with my JR- except mine works when switched "off." When I go to CALIBRATE the stock adaptor reads all my channels, but all the input bars are twitching all over the place. When I went to CONTROLS to assign channels none of the bars even twitched, and when I tried to fly the throttle didn't work at all, the ailerons were the rudd; basically everything was messed. But it did make for some interesting crashes!

Then I tried my old FMS adaptor and it works great. It is an awesome simulator. I will be contacting Aerofly/ OMP to see what the deal is. If I didn't have my old adaptor I would not be able to fly at all. I don't get it. There must be a firmware glitch or something.

Happy to be flying, bummed that it didn't work as advertised.[:@]

codiddley,

I too downloaded and installed the patch from the AFPD website at OMP..., immediately after installing the upgrade to AFPD. When I received the "no transmitter signal detected" message, I thought about uninstalling the AFPD upgrade, but soon changed my mind because my original AFP no longer works...Apparently, the upgrade software deletes the executable file for AFP.. I can't re-install AFP because I had to return the original AFP disk to purchase the upgrade.

Perhaps I need to call OMP, or e-mail STLPilot for some help.

Thanks

Roy

Are you in PPM mode? That's real important.

STLPilot,

The answer is yes to that question...It has been in PPM since using AFP...Has anyone had a problem with the old Y adapter/extension cable and the new, USB interface?

Thanks

FOR WHAT ITS WORTH... I had some trouble getting things to run good also. Called my computer support person. Go to Start..select My Computer..click imformation Hardware tab...and then Device manager. You should see a list of (Display adapters). Your vidio card should show upon that list. If you have also a on-board chip...it should show up with a red X by it. I wrote this down...for it is hard (for me) to remember. This may help someone....I hope. Capt,n P.S. Also make sure your vidio card is set to run only your monitor. If you run the TV output at the same time... fram rates will be cut way down.

captinjohn,

Thank you for reply and suggestion, but, i am not having any problem with displaying the program...the program runs fine..The software is just not recognizing my Tx....I think it's an USB interface issue, not a video card, nor display issue.

If it is in fact an Interface problem we will replace it. However before we diagnose that as the issue, is there any chance you can borrow another radio? Even a skysport 4 or even a JR?

STLPilot,

I'm going to borrow a Skyport 4 and the adapter cable for my Futaba 9C to follow up on your suggestion. I will report back later when I have tried both..

Thanks,

Roy

STLPilot,

Borrowed a Futaba Skyport 4 and a square adapter plug for the Futaba 9CAP. When each Tx was plugged to AFPD upgrade's, USB Interface, I received the same error message from the program, "No Tx Signal Detected". Is there anything else we have to check before we go for replacing a defective USB Interface cable?

Hi all,

I received my new and improved USB interface cable, with what looks like a filtering device, or maybe an iron choke attached, from IKARUS-USA. The new cable works like a charm with my Futaba 8U.

Thank you for the mod. IKARUS.

I had the same problem when I got mine but traced it down to where the interface plugs into the adaptor for you
transmitter. It looked like it was all the way in but another shove got everything working fine.
