Is this Sony Notebook powerful enough?
Most lightweight laptops are not powerful enough to run programs like Aerofly Pro.
I recently saw this new Sony which seemed to have a pretty good graphics card, RAM and Processor. But I was still not sure it has the oomph to run AFP at an acceptable framerate?
Model: S360
Pentium M 1.7 GHZ
1 Gb of RAM.
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 64MB ram.
The low ram in the graphics card worries me.
Does anyone know whether this laptop could run AFP at a decent framerate?
Thanks

You'll be fine. Should be well over 100 FPS with that setup.
You have 15 days to try it ... but that's what I suspect you'll get.

RE: Is this Sony Notebook powerful enough?
Not to get into a big discussion about laptops, BUT, I just got a Dell Inspiron 9300 with 17" UXGA true life screen and a kick***** video card for about what that Sony cost.
I wanted a Laptop and I wanted a Laptop that would fly AFPD. That was my WHOLE goal when I shopped around.
My specs are:
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
512MB Dual Channel DDR2 ****M at 533MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800
It will run AFPD without even being plugged in. I'm not bias one way or another on computer brand names, but $$ talks and that was the best deal for the $$ a few weeks ago.
That 17" True Life Screen aint nothin to scoff at!!!
Just my $.02

Sure, but your laptop probably weighs twice what the Sony does, i.e. 7-8Lbs.
I wanted a laptop that's easy to travel with etc but which is powerful enough to run AFP. The sony is clearly not as hi spec as your Dell, but if it runs AFP Ok, and only weighs 4Lbs, then that suits me.

Dude, you will be able to get anywhere from 70 to 200fps on that setup for AFP. I have a dell i8500 with a p4 2.2GHz, 40gig HD, 640 mb pc2100 of crucial ram (128 and 512), 32mb radeon 9000 graphics card, 15.4in screen, and I get anywhere from 60 to 200 fps, but now I have Halflife 2 and I can play it just fine on my orginal resoultion of 1280X800 with the graphics settings on low, it even looks great. I plan on playing Battlefield 2 with 1 gig of ram, once I order more.

hehe, Dell notebooks are all like bricks! bulky, heavy! I suspect you can kill a moo instantly by throwing a Dell notebook to it.
Not sure bout AFPD, but my old Dell notebook runs AFP *reasonably* well, it got a P4 1.4 and a Geforce Go440 64mb on it. It definitly slower than my desktop which is a celeron 1.7 with a Geforce fx5200. I can really see it chuckled when flying Doc's Yak54 on the notebook, even with smoke off.
