Default ?????FMS

I bought a serial interface cable from milehighwings for FMS, boy they ship fast, anyway I downloaded FMS 2.0alpha8.5 to play with. I am having lock-up problems. It will loadup and run fine for a few minutes then it will either freeze up solid or go black with a screen that says " Signal frequenct is out of range, please change signal timing". In either case I have to do a hot shut down and reboot. Then It will loadup again and work good for a few minutes, then crash again. Anybody have an idea what is going on here?
BTW My AFP PRO runs just fine on this computer.
Thanks for any help.

Might be the reason they called it FMS 2.0alpha8.5. Alpha usually means it's a unstable development version.

The web site recommends:

Version 2.0 Beta 7 (Windows 9x/ME/2000) - recommended Version

Thanks Mike: I am running XP. Could I still run an older version?
