Default Help. Lock up during flight?

Since AFPD has been out for a while has anyone figured out why AFPD locks up sometimes during flight and what to do about it? Specifically at times when the plane or helicopter gets in close? I replaced my entire computer system about 4 months ago and have the exact same problems with the PC locking up when the plane flies in to close to me that I had with my old PC. I can fly around out at a distance all day but if I bring it in over the runway, or some planes even further out it locks up for maybe 20 seconds and then jumps back to the main menu? My frame speeds are 100-175FPS and I still lock up. What am I doing wrong?

New PC:
3.2GHz P4 processor
1024MB RAM
Ge Force 5500FX 256DDR Video Card
60GB ATI Hard Drive

You might want to try the IPACS forum at ipacs.de as I have no clue and I've never seen this one before.

Hi,

you didn't specify your operating system, guess it's WinXP.

1. AFPD installed without error messages?
2. Latest driver for your graphics board?
3. OpenGL set to maximum performance?
4. Latest version of directX?
5. Latest patch for AFPD?
6. Screensaver and energy management switched off?
7. Background programs (virus scanner...) switched off?
8. No overheating, especially graphics board?
9. Tried differrent graphics modes and refresh rates?
10. Switched on/off vertical sync?

Regards

Default RE: Help. Lock up during flight?

Hi guys,
Yep, I tried all of those things. THanks for the help.

you didn't specify your operating system, guess it's WinXP. correct, sorry

1. AFPD installed without error messages? Yep
2. Latest driver for your graphics board? Just uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers. Even tried rolling back drivers.
3. OpenGL set to maximum performance? I think so, I have performance setting on max on the NVidia Utilities screens.
4. Latest version of directX? Yup
5. Latest patch for AFPD? Did that this weekend
6. Screensaver and energy management switched off? UH huh
7. Background programs (virus scanner...) switched off? Yes, as far as I can tell. I do have a firewall and cable internet that is always online.
8. No overheating, especially graphics board? nope
9. Tried differrent graphics modes and refresh rates? I have tried different resolutions and refresh rates. My computer screen wont handle anything over 72, above that it just goes to black.
10. Switched on/off vertical sync? Off...

Heres the typical lock up view with any given airplane.

Default RE: Help. Lock up during flight?

I just thought of somthin'[sm=idea.gif]:

I had lock ups when I had some "Spyware" or "Anti-virus" software installed[:@]when I uninstalled them I had no problems at all![&:]

Try uninstalling any thing of that kind (if you have any) and see how it goes?!?!?

It seems weird that it could be connected but it does seem to sort it out.

I Hope this may help a bit.

Greg.
