Default Ultimate AeroFlyPro Computer System

Dear all,

I have just received my AeroFly Professional DeLuxe with USB Game Controller from and through Ikarus.
On the internet and in the Simulator Manual I can find a lot of information concerning the MINIMUM system requirements for my computer.
I am about to buy a new computer system SPECIALLY for this flight simulator.

Can someone inform me what the OPTIMUM system configuration would be, in which I can expect the highest level of simulator options.
In short I want to switch ON all the game options like photogenerated background, clouds, smoke, highest texture level and so on.

I would mostly appriciate specialized advice !

Kind regards,
Rick

I would go with asus mb and a lian-li case, (there awsome.) I think Intel and AMD are good but I have a p4. Also, get a 10k rpm harddrive. (aka raptor) Its very fast, get two and run a raid 0! Super fast!!!! Also, I would go with the BFG 7800gtx if you can afford it. My bro has a 6600gt 128mb and it can run BF2 on medium settings! It looks awsome. Just think if you got the 6800 ultra or 7800gt(x). Also, corsair ddr2 pc 5400 1 gig for ram. Samsung 913N 19`` zilver 8ms<<<< that is good! 8ms response time! NICE. Lastly, I reccomed windows xp professional with sp2.

If money is unlimited then get the best you can. But if all your looking to do is play AFPD then you really don't have to have super top of the line system. As far as drives go all they are going to do is speed up your load time and it minimal anyway. Raptors in raid 0 are way overkill. a good 7200 drive should do just fine. Or two in raid 0 would do very well.
If your using a LCD monitor up to 19" the max resolution is going to be 1280x1024 so a X800 or 6800 are going to play every game out there at over 60 FPS. AFPD will be getting more in the range of 100+FPS. For the sound card take a look at the new Creative X-Fi cards.

I am running AFPD on a Dell XPS gen 2 laptop. Is running at 1920x1200 with 4x AA and 8x anso and its getting 200+FPS. Way over kill. I was running it before on a Acer 3200 with a 9700 64MB and it was still gettting over 30 FPS at 1024x768.

If you get a good mother board you don't need a sound card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131516 My bro has that one and everything sounds awsome, with his logitech speakers, which I have a set also. Some motherboards even have 7.1 audio. As for the hard drive, you can never go overkill on them because if you want stuff to load fast you'll be better off with a fast hd. If you rather have storage go with a big 250gig hd, (7,200 rpm.) The speed is still good too.

Quote from newegg, "Heat and Noise in Hard Drives
Also, heat might not mean much to you unless you live in a warm climate. However, it can impact the lifespan of your system. If your computer case doesn't have enough ventilation around it, your hard drive can fail prematurely.

If you will be installing a hard drive on your computer, there are three interfaces to know about: SCSI, IDE and Serial ATA. SCSI is used mainly for server systems and is not often found in home computers. The IDE interface is most common in home computers. Serial ATA drives relatively new and are easier to install because they have fewer cables and less configuration required."

I would go with serial ATA.
