Default Which 3D modelling software options for AFPD?

Hi

The tutorials I have used so far both use Metasequioa for building the 3D model, which is saved as a *.suf and then converted by the AFPD converter program.

Questions: is it possible to model directly in the format that AFPD used for its models (*.obj) and what is this format if it is not a specific AFPD format; if not, can I use any other modelling software, such as Blender, saving as e.g. a DXF, then importing and converting to .suf?

Thanks

DS

Hi,

the only prgram that can do this is [link=http://www.ac3d.org/]AC3D[/link], but you need the exporter from IPACS to export to .tgo and/or .obj(IPACS)

But the program is not free, about 70$.

Thanks Algenbrot. Is the exporter available from IPACS?

BTW - what is the difference between .tgo and .obj files?

Hi,

i think if you send an e-mail to [email protected] and ask for the exporter for AC3D you will get it.

The difference between .tgo and .obj

.obj

-larger file size
-takes longer to load
-ASCII Text

.tgo

-smaller
-faster to load
-encrypted

Thanks very much. I'll give AC3D a go and if I'm going to buy it, I'll email for the exporter.

Actually, thats not true, you can use 3D studios max 8 as well, I know for a fact that Lego uses it. I'm going to request to get the converter, I already have the .obj converter and I need the other one so I can export the model directly from 3ds max.

Regards,
Matt
