Default upgrade path of AFPD

Bought a new computer with Win 7 (prerelease version) and installed my AFPD version 1.8.0.17 and it worked fine. Patched to 1.8.0.25 and that worked. Then tried to go to 1.11.07.21 and now it won't run. Tried the "compatibility" procedure for Win 7 but no joy.

Did I miss a step here or is 1.8.0.17 as far as I can go?

Hi Bob, could you tell me what was the error code and message? Please also provide the following information:

1) Tell me exactly what kind of hardware you have, especially 3D graphics card, CPU, and any other hardware installed, sound card etc.
2) What is the RAM size?
3) Which operating system are you using, Win7 32 bit or 64 bit?
4) Tell me exactly what drivers you installed for the 3D graphics card.
5) Which addons do you have?
6) What is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk?
7) How did you install the main disk, addons, and patch (which version?), and what was the sequence of installation?
8) Post the tm.log file which you can find in the following directory

C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe

You may open the file with a text editor like word or notepad. Just copy and paste the entire content into your post.

Thanks for the reply Mike. Here is what I know: (or think I know)

1) Tell me exactly what kind of hardware you have, especially 3D graphics card, CPU, and any other hardware installed, sound card etc.
it is an NVIDA graphics card with version 7.2 driver(s). I can't find the paper that has the model number on it but it wasn't an inexpensive card(!) CPU is Intel, core 2 quad. C: is set up in a RAID 0 config.

2) What is the RAM size?
4 GB

3) Which operating system are you using, Win7 32 bit or 64 bit?
64

4) Tell me exactly what drivers you installed for the 3D graphics card.
The latest, machine is only three weeks old, 7.2 it says on the disk.

5) Which addons do you have?
I have no AFPD addons, just the original disk.

6) What is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk?
The number that showed up on the screen with the first install was 1.8.0.17. (It is also on the disk) The number on the original box #3021001

7) How did you install the main disk,
Main disk loaded fine, I flew for a week or two with no problems.

patch (which version?), and what was the sequence of installation?
the patch 1.8.0.25 went on fine. I rebooted and tried the upgrade below, would not work. Then I tried installing it with "compatibility" turned on and Admin privileges checked. It said it installed but when I try to run it I get : "AeroFKt Professional Deluxe main executable has stopped working."

Hi Bob, if you do not have any addons, patch 1.8.0.25 will be what you need. I would suggest that you uninstall AFPD using the instructions at the bottom of this page http://www.aerofly.com/downloads.html and then reinstall AFPD followed by patch 1.8.0.25

Hey Mike, .25 is what I have on there now. That is just one "step" up from the original program; I was thinking there were several other patches/fixes/improvements beyond this one. Seems like I put several on my old machine but I don't remember for sure...

Anyway, AFPD looks good on my new HDMI monitor.

Hi Bob, the other patches will not make a difference if you do not have any addons. On the AF5, I'll provide more info later. Your system should be able to handle AF5 without any problem. You can upgrade from AFPD to AF5 if you wish in the future, but by itself AFPD is great and I believe it will remain as the benchmark simulator especially for lower spec systems.
