Default Aerofly Professsional Deluxe doesn't work on MacOS 10.6

Hi,

I bought Aerofly Professional Deluxe for the Mac and it works fine on my Macbook with MacOS 10.5

I am now considering upgrading to a new Macbook. I am trying a new Macbook Pro with MacOS 10.6. I installed AFPD from the CD in exactly the same way as I did on my previous Macbook with MacOS 10.5 but AFPD won't run. It crashes on attempting to start up.

I tried applying the 1.11.7.31 patch. There was no change, AFPD still crashes on attempting to start up.

Unfortunately I can't paste the whole of the MacOS problem report here but I can copy some basic details:

OS version: Mac OS X 10.6.2 (10C540)

Exception type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000038
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

With best regards,

What type of video card are you using?
This new Macbook Pro has an Nvidia GEForce 9400M video card.

Best regards,

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

It doesn't look like there are MacOS drivers available from Nvidia themselves for the 9400M. The drivers appear to be distributed together with the operating system by Apple themselves. I carried out a full operating system upgrade, still no results.

AFPD runs very well on my six month old Macbook with MacOS 10.5. I now have a chance to upgrade to a brand new Macbook Pro; the only thing holding me back is that AFPD won't run on the new Macbook Pro with MacOS 10.6.

With best regards,

George, could you copy the entire text content in the tm.log file in the AFPD directory and paste it here? Thanks

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your attention.

The file tm.log does exist in the AFPD directory on my Macbook with MaCOS 10.5, where AFPD works fine, but unfortunately the file doesn't exist in the AFPD directory on the new Macbook Pro with MacOS 10.6, where I'm having the problem with AFPD failing to start. The application probably crashes before it has a chance to write to the file. I'm sorry this problem seems to be resisting all your kind efforts to help...

With best regards,

It is likely that you have no write access to the directory. That could be why the program crashes. Could you tell me where you copied the AeroFly directory to?

I recently installed AFPD on a new iMac and it crashes on user logins, but runs fine if I log in as an Admin. So that may be the quickest way to get up and running. I have not yet figured out what specific folder is causing the permission problem, but I installed the AFPD folder in Applications while logged in as an Admin.

Thank you gentlemen,

Installing under Applications as a user with administrative rights, and running as the same user, resolved the issue.
