Default Two Receivers

Ok Guys, Need your help. I am getting ready to help a friend install two receivers in his new fiberclassics extra. I have a little knowledge on how this is done, but I am uncomfortable with the little bit I know. I was wondering if anybody out there knew of a article on doing this or could send me instructions on how to do this. I think it would be great if I could explain what I was doing to him so he could do it. Thanks.

Default Two Receivers

I ran 2 receivers in my Cap mostly for power distribution and availible plug-in slots. My guiding thought was that each connection point was a possible source of failure (much more likely than a cell failing closed or a switch dying in flight). Running 1) optical isolator, 1) receiver and Y-harnesses I had 29 connections. With 2 receivers/switches/batteries I have 18 connections.
Both receivers and their batteries are mounted on the fuse sides, just under the hatch, 18 inches from the firewall. Each has a KRC1700 mah. pack and a heavy duty Futaba switch. Each antennae is routed through nyrod tubes under the turtle deck. Each servo extension is routed through a paper tube on the bottom of the fuse. The ends of the antennae's exit into the rudder well spaced away from the elevator servo's or their leads.

Each wing has 2) Hitec 5925's, rudder has 2) 5925's ganged, and each elevator has 1) 5945. Each receiver controls the same side aileron, half of the rudder and the opposite side elevator. The left side receiver controls the throttle, the right side controls smoke. Theoretically I could land the plane with 1 receiver out. In reality probably not but I've got better odds this way.

40%plane, give me the list of his servos and where they are located. Along with the model of the rx's and tx and I'll do my best to help you out.

Default Two Receivers

RX1
ch 1 right ailerons
2 left elevator
3 throttle
4 All rudder servos

RX2 Ch 1 nothing
2 Nothing
3 Nothing
4 Nothing
5 Smoke
6 Left ailerons
7 Choke
8 Right Elevator
Each receiver on it's own switch and battery.
With futaba Just use ailevator function to set up elevators.
Or you can use a pmix with elev as master and ch 8 as slave trim on link on.

This is how I will be hooking up my 1/3 with all digi servos.

For more redundancy in your switch and battery you could also run a jumper from 1 rx to the other incase you would lose a batt. or a switch. However it would also be beneficial to install diodes so 1 bad battery couldnt drain the other.
I am not in favor of the jumper because if 1 switch or servo should short out it would drain both batteries.

This is my first attempt at installing 2 receivers so somebody may correct me if I am making a mistake.
