Just bought the Vectorflight Edge 540. I'm looking for some advice on recommended servos. I fly Futaba 9C radio and want to get into pattern, IMAC aerobatics. Not really hot on 3D yet but I want to make sure I build the plane right. I've heard about servos breaking on hard loops, etc. and want to avoid that. I plan on using carbon fiber or 4-40 rods on control rods, ball links and aluminum servo arms. What is a 'coreless' servo and why is that better (so I've heard)?. I've been flying GP SuperSportster and have done about everything I can do on that and want to move up to the next level.

I would suggest servos with at least 70oz of torue. I prefer Hitec myself as they are lower in price compared to Futaba and JR.

these are good servos with nice power.

If you go higher on the price scale you can get Digitals

5625MG 110oz
5645MG 143oz

the torque ratings I posted are at 4.8volts, obviously gihher if you use a 6volt system

Thanks for the info. That gives me a pretty good starting point. You're right. The Futaba's are more expensive! I may have to shell out $100 / each for some of those. Maybe I'll look at other alternatives. Thanks again for the help.

Try the hitec HS-5475 servos
Digitals for less than $50.
