Default H9 Sukhoi for IMAC?

I am thinking of purchasing a H9 33% Sukhoi as a back-up for IMAC 2004. With the price being reduced on them the buy seems attractive. A member in my club has one but he just flies around and does 3D occasionally. I cannot tell from that if it is IMAC worthy. Anyone using or have seen the Sukhoi in IMAC action? What about power? ZDZ80?

BTW: my primary plane will be a 35% Extra 300L.

Ask your buddy to let you fly his Sukhoi.
Mike McConville flew one in Unlimited and won a contest with it - ZDZ-80 for power.
With the right stick movements, the plane does fly.

At the NC Judging school, Mike flew his with the ZDZ and it was awesome. Now, I think Mike can fly the unlimited routine with a high powered trainer but other than that, it looked good in the air. Flew very slow and had not bad habits above stall speed.

I saw a couple at a SW region contest this year and they both did well. They were being piloted by excellent pilots also. ZDZ80 in both. Plenty of juice, even at 5000' ASL.

I had a H9 Sukhoi,,Imac's very well,,,3d's Good..However

I flew the H9 Cap 232 this season in Imac and just felt more comfortable right off the bat.

The H9 Cap tracks much better and does'nt take as quite as much mixing as the sukhoi..

But I think you said you were going to use it as a backup??? No worries...But if it were me I

would not have a sukhoi as a primary ,,Just my two cents...KM

Greetings all,
Yup, $550.00 is a real good "come on" price.
Then you have to buy ALL the hardwear...easy extra 120.00.
Then either the ZDZ 80 or DA-100.
Oh, and don't forget the $2000 trailer to haul it in...
My buddy has one, and I really do love it.
'Cept the whole transport thing.
Yup, $550 is just a come on.....it's the other $3500.00 that sneaks up on you.

Hello, I have one and I think its a great flyer. Ive had it for almost a year now with ZDZ80 power. I have not hit any IMAC contests yet, but have been told that I would do good with it if I went so this next year Im going to do it.

BA30 is right, the plane is the cheapest part practically. You dont NEED the trailer, and $2000 was alot cheaper than it cost me, but if you want to take the stabs off everytime you can fit it into an explorer or other small SUV. Oh, I paid $550 for mine NIB but was slightly damaged on a piece of the floor.

I have a couple 3Dish video's on my site of mine, its got alot of power, but more is always better to me. I just picked up the H9 cap too, and its getting a DA100 so Ill have vids of both and my own personal comparo since I have never flown the cap yet.

THANKS
