Lanier 33% Extra 300
I'm thinking about buying a used RTF 33% Lanier Extra 300, and I would like to hear any thoughts people have about how well the plane flies, 3ds, etc.
Thank you.
Thank you.

RE: Lanier 33% Extra 300
It is all about weight with this plane. If it weighs more than 28 pounds I would stay away from it. I have not owned one, but I have talked to some people who have, and across the board it is a weight issue. I built and flew the 1/4 scale kit. It is basically the same as the 33%, only smaller. I had difficulty keeping the weight down (under 14 pounds). It flew okay but was clearly too heavy.

RE: Lanier 33% Extra 300
I just finished building one, and am in fact selling it (see ad in the marketplace!!)
Mine came in at 24 lbs all up. I used a ZDZ80. I flew my friend's, whose plane was 27.5 lbs with a Brison 5.8. Both planes flew very well. I was especially impressed with the way the plane point rolls, it was very smooth, and required virtually no rudder and elevator input.
The plane was also excellent at 3D. Waterfalls were very tight, and torquerolling was easy. Elevators were a little unstable though, you had to stay on the ailerons.
The plane flew very smooth, and slowed right down for easy landings. Any specific questions? Let me know.

RE: Lanier 33% Extra 300
I just finished one and put a 3W78 twin in it. I have put 15 flights on it and it flies great. I have not done any 3d because I wanted it for an IMAC plane. I think it is a great flying plane for the money, I aslo have an Aeroworks 33% edge and the lanier is just as good. In fact, they both built up very similar. I don't think you would go wrong by getting one.

RE: Lanier 33% Extra 300
I have been flying one of these birds for 3 seasons now, and it was built and flown by someone else two seasons before I bought it. I have a Brison 6.4 in her, and she keeps up with the rest of the 33% birds just fine. Check her out in my gallery. She weighs around 27 pounds. Modded with foam and glass aftermarket parts, and many lightening holes cut in the ply. Tail hinge lines moved forward 1.2 inches also...
Check 'er out,
Erich
