Default JR8611 for rudder on G.P. 78" Extra Patty

I had the servos 2 rudder servos per. plan and use no match box. I don't like this set up as if the (L)&(R) servos JR Std. Digital DS811

I think I will install the JR8611 on the right fues. side location and of course remove the left DS811. rellying on the *200+Inch O. avail from the 8611 at 4.8

What do you all think...I thought of Pull Pull but hope not to get that into mod. here.

Thank You[sm=confused.gif]

Just put it in there and you will be happy you did not modify anything. You can put it on the "light" side of the plane to help lateral balance.

I would stay away from plastic arms on such a powerful servo. I have seen these arms break. Actually, that is the spline that stripped.

I think the heavy fiber filled arm is ok, but the linkage will NOT hold. My brother did the same to his Patty and the linkage came back bent from the first flight. You will need something a bit stronger, he used some carbon rod I think.

Maybe you can slip a carbon tube over the, I presume, 4-40 rod. Glue the tube with JB weld.

Even though the one in the pics is much better that the ones that come with the servo, I still maintain what I said relative to the plastic servo arm, don't use it... Much better to use metal arms.

The guys that build to crash will say that these arms (HD plastic) will break during a crash thus saving your servo from crash damage.

You can grab the rudder and work the servo SLOWLY to see if your setup is strong enough. I always test my control surfaces to the full servo power to make sure they do not break in flight (the servo is not any stronger in the air than it is on the ground).

I use Airwild MLP arms but SWB arms are perfect too. When ordering, make sure to talk about the "size" of the output shaft of your 8611, there was something about this that made some arms too sloppy on the splines and others so tight it became almost impossible to remove. Ask them and they will know what question to ask you (I think you must measure the shaft or something like that).

Hangar Nine makes some good metal arms for JR. You can get them fro Horizon or your LHS.
