Default what about Goldberg Decathlon for Basic?

I've got my eyes on a Goldberg Decathlon with a Saito 100 in it. I would like to use it to compete in the Basic class. Am I dreaming? Would the Aeroworks .46-.61 be a better choice with the same engine?

any plane is fine for basic. As long as you can do the spin. 90% of the zero's given are for doing the spin wrong.

The plane won't be much good once you move up in classes though.

What I found out a few weekends ago though is that you've got to have the vertical performance to do the maneuvers. My 40 sized Edge can do all the maneuvers but you've got to build speed and momentum to do them and that makes the whole thing harder to do. If you've LOTS of power you can just putt around and go vert when you need to and for as long as you want to. That's important.
