Default Stinger for IMAC Basic...

Hello,
I am a experienced pilot in the basic devision, and I will be making
a small but important expense on the hobby,
I was looking the other day at the Stinger ARF and I was questioning
the performance of this plane.
I have had a few people tell me that they would be great but will it do the job?
I really like the square winged planes and I think that this one would be nice if its a rail flying plane.

If you guys could tell me whether or not this is a good decision it would be great!

Paul.

Paul, only problem I see is it won't be legal in Sportsman and up. With your flying skills you may find yourself wanting to fly Sportsman soon. There are no snaps in Basic and the plane is capable of all the listed Basic maneuvers. Beyond that it is just pilot ability, but keep in mind you can't take it past Basic.

Thank you FlyFalcons..
I didn't think about that.
But I guess if I get to that point soon I'll just try and sell what ever I get to buy the next step up...
What would be a good 60-70" winged span airplane that wouldn't be hard to fly but would be really aerobatic and would work for IMAC
That was in the 280$ range?

I'm not really sure but I've seen the Kangke Cap .60 and it looks like it flies very well. Also their Extra 60 might be a nice choice.

The Extra 60 is $160 at wingtote. Call Perry and see if you can work a deal with him. For this price you can just skip the Stinger.

CA makes awesome airplanes. I think they have a 24 or 25% Extra 300L that is a 70 something inch span. They you could also go to a gas engine and save a lot of money on fuel dpending on how much you fly The ZDZ 40 or 50 would be great.

That would also be more 3D capable than the 50 or 60" planes if that is something you would be interested in as well.

Default Stinger for IMAC?

Hey FlyFalcons,
The Extra is not what I'm looking for,
It would be the same as me flying the little P-47in IMAC,
The P-47 would work really well for IMAC but not for the other things I want to do with a plane, The P-47 like the Extra has a high wing stall
and is not as good for hovering as the Stinger,
so why do I ask the question?
If I win IMAC three times in Basic and then have to quit because of needing a
scale plane than thats fine, I'll just start flying pattern then,
and then I don't have to fly scale at all!
besides, I get a plane about once or twice a year anyway,
so I think that the Stinger is the best choice,
The stinger also has the hovering potential as the Ucan do 3D!
So thanks everyone for helping me make up my mind.!
Do remember that when I'm ready to move up in IMAC will be at least two years away.

Paul.

Sounds fine Paul, remember that the Stinger wasn't originally designed for 3D maneuvers though it should be a very nice sport flying airplane for you.
