15x8 APC runs great on an Ultimate
Hey Steve,
From my experience a 15x8 APC works real well on the CG Ultimate with a 1.08.
Tried a zinger Pro 15x8 not quite the same pull on vertical.
I'd like to have tried a hard maple prop. Would be lighter than the APC and stiffer. Should have much better pull and faster spin up.
If you go APC you might want to take the knife sharp edge off the trailing edge with a couple of passes on the sand paper.
I had a tough time keeping it from rolling with a 15x8. I finally put a little fuel tubing on the axles for drag. I never thought to try toe-in.
Good choice on engines

I have been flying my Ultimate with an APC 16x6. While it flies fine, I would like try something else without wasting my time. I would really like to try the correct Menz and I'm playing with the idea of the 15x8. I think my plane could use a little more pull (aceleration maybe). Not sure.
PS: and yes I am finding that this is probably the best 2s for the plane. I like it so much I am thinking about taking the digitals out of my UltraStik to put in it.

What are you tach-ing with the APC?
Sure wish there was more info on the smaller Menz props. I'd agree with the 15x8 if I was to spend the money.
If I remember we tached it at ~ 8,800 rpms. I was told (or read) that 8,400-8,600 is the "sweat spot" for this engine. If the Menz really pulls down the RPM this would put you right at that point.
Heck for $ 25.00 you could get a 15x8 and a 16x6.
Hopefully someone else will chime in here and help out.
Otherwise, if you get one please let me know how it works out.
Thanks,
Scott

I agree with all of the above. My OS 1.08 runs great with the APC 15x8, 16x4W, and 16x6. It depends more on what the application is. I have a CG 300 with the 16x6 on it and it ROCKS!!
