Default IMAC Legal?

How can I find out if a particular plane is IMAC Legal? I am purchasing a Pacific Aero Models 1/4-scale Laser 200 (72" wing) that I would like to use to get into IMAC. How can I find out if this plane will be accepted? I read the rules understand them but how can I be sure that when I get to the competition and have my plane checked out that it will be accepted? Thanks for the help.

Default legal imac

PTgarcia:
If you are going to be flying in basic anything goes.
Once you move up the plane has to represent an aerobatic plane with pilot and panel and some limits of deviation from stock outline something like 10% but I have not seen anyone check a plane so far. But I suppose someone will check if it looks way out.
Once you get out and fly at a competition you will have a blast.
Just fly and have fun

There is currently no 10% rule. If you can convince the CD it represents a full scale aerobatic plane you can fly it. Not having the pilot and dash is a 1 or 2% deduction from your score, but you can still fly. As has already been said, basic is a fly what you've got class.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess since I'll be starting in the basic class I can ask a CD/judge take a look and see if my plane will be acceptable for the other classes. Thanks again!

As a CD I can tell you right now that you will have no problems with your airplane. As long as is it looks anything remotely like a full size aerobatic airplane no one will question whether it is legal.
In all my years of competition I have never seen anyone turned away from a competition because of this rule. (The TOC was run under its own rules)

Kevin,

They removed the 10% rule last year. I've read somewhere that it might be coming back. But not this year.

Hi,
Would just like to add this is for the U.S. only!...I understand that the European IMAC rules still require 10% true scale outline.
Cheers

Hey I belong to the Circle City flyers down the FWY. I had a Pacific Aero Models 1/4-scale Laser 200 with a YS120. Wow, was that plane impressive. Very lights and flew very well. I made the mistake of hooking up my overnight charger to a switched outlet. When I left the shop for the night I turned off the switch. Needless to say...I got about 3 min of flight time. BTW, I discharged that day to see how much capacity was left in the batteries so it was completely discharged. Anyway, You will be very happy with it. I had the newer model with the plug in wings.

Robert,

I remember your plane. I met you at Circle City about a month ago and spoke with you about your club. I fly a few miles north of you guys with the Corona RC Club. Anyway, I saw your Laser in the back of your truck... the red one right? After I saw your plane and heard what you had to say about it I decided it would be my next project. Sorry to hear you lost yours. Maybe I'll see you at the field. Take care!

Hey Pauly
Yes, I remember now.

Cool. You know they are having a IMAC contest in San Diego / Chula Vista Model Radio Control Club. Contact is Tim Attaway (619)427-6392.

I was planing on going to fly...but, No more plane. But, I do have a Cermark Javelin II, 46 size pattern plane, a Funtana with a YS63 and even a Model Tech Magic 46. I heard I can fly anything in Basic??? Anyone have a comment on this?

I ordered a H9 80" CAP and a DA 50 to go with it but I don't think I could have it ready that quickly.

When is the IMAC event happening? I happen to be taking a drive to San Diego this Saturday. If it's this weekend I may stop by.

Thanks for the info Robert, sounds like fun. I have a baby boy on the way, due August 18, so I'll have to see if I'll be able to make it. Thanks again...see you at the field!
