Lets Try Internet IMAC Judging For Fun
All,
This might be fun!
Attached is three links, a video of 2003 Sportsman sequence, the 2003 sportsman Aresti Sequence, and the 2003 Sportsman Scoresheet.
Download the video print the sequence and score sheet. Watch the video and judge the maneuver, when complete send me the 1-10 score for each sequence, with a brief explination for downgrades [email protected]
Mid August I will look at everybodys score, put them in a spreadsheet and post data here. Like Max min standard deviation, most common reason for downgrade etc....,Then I can take an average of the scores that everyone sent, take out the extremly high and low scores for each sequence, to determine the "best fit" score. You could then compare this to the scores you gave to see if you are judging higher lower or the same as the average judge.
Rules:
Everyone give 5 sound score
Do not deduct for not being in the center of the box, it is hard to tell on the video
No Deadline deductions
Judge the sequence twice...ie 1 round of judging

Here is the Sportsman Sequence

Here is the Score Sheet

If I get good participation on this I will try and find or record more videos and we can try it again
Let me know if this is a good idea

JohnVH,
I am glad you liked it. So I guess you don't mind that I used your Video. Are you going to judge it and send me the results? I have a couple so far but would like to get ten or so to really get an idea on how consistant judging is. I will post the averages, high, and lows for each sequence with most common reasons for deductions once I get ten people to participate. So spread the word
Thanks for the great video

270 turn ???
I am confused, the sequence shows the 270 turn being made to the right which would put the airplane out of the box. On the video the turn is made to the left which keeps the plane in the box. Which is correct?
My son and I just started flying IMAC this year and seeing someone fly the sequence that knows how it should be done is really a great help.
Thank a bunch to all that took the time to make a post the video.
It would really be great to see a video of the next level.
Thanks again

Either way is correct. Most guys at the competitions I have been attending are doing the turn the way I did it. The crossbox maneuvers don't have to be flown in the direction shown on the Aresti. If you are flying further out, then you can do it as shown on the Aresti and stay within the box.
I'll see about getting an Intermediate vid up sometime.

This is a pretty good idea except that it is hard to see how long the vertical lines are when their is no reference to the ground. It is also hard to see if the rolling maneuvers are at the right time. But never the less the flying looked good. I have flow in intermediate and have taken 3rd in the JR Challenge. keep up the good work

I think it is an awsome Idea, but I do not know how much participation you will get.
There has been only two people e-mail me scores since this thread was started.
I was hoping for ten sets of scores to get a real idea as to how consistant judging is as well as to give the individual judges feedback to see how they score compared to others.
I realize that there are certain things that cant be judged on a video, but there are plenty of things that can.
Unless more people participate with post 1 of this thread then I would not recommend putting in too much time into a website.
Good luck

note
I haven't been on in a while and noticed this thread which is pretty cool. I watched the sportsman video on the original post and I must say it is difficult to score that since I cannot tell the symmetry of the maneuvers, length of lines, that sort of thing. Alltogether, whoever this is seems to be a pretty solid pilot. I can say the snap looked excellent with a very subtle but noticeable nose break and a great exit..........would be nice to have a bit better video with the ground in the picture all the time but I know that makes the plane hard to see.........
