I have one of these ARC's on the way.

Any comments or suggested mods??? Power will likely be a MOKI 2.1 as I don't do gas.

Happy Holidays!

Airwild doesn't make these anymore. Where did you get it?

EBAY,. Yes they've been out of production for a while, but someone had one lying around unassembled, I guess. The web site is: http://www.airwildhobbies.com/

I think this link still works: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...920847777&rd=1

If it doesn't, the specs are:

Wingspan 81"
Length 72"
Wing area 1160 sq. in.
weight 13-15 lbs

I did a search on the news groups, but there isn't a lot of info on it out there.

Which one is it?

Do you know whether it is the first run that had balsa sheeted foam wings or the last run that was all built up in construction?

Both are good, but the foam one is a bit heavier.

I had both kits, both flew well built per the instructions. The landing gear is a little short if you want to go with props longer than 21". TNTLanding gear can fix that. Had a BME 50 on mine, and it flew very nice but I've gone on to bigger planes.

I went to the link to EBAY, and this is the first kit with sheeted foam wings.

Builds OK. I liked the second one better as it had removeable stabs and the hatch was open all the way to the firewall. Only issue I had with it was the tank location.

They have you build it to mount under the wing tube and a 16oz tank is about all that will fit there. Even then it was a bear to get to for service. May be too low a location for the Moki without a pump. You will likely have to put the tank in front of the wing tube, not on the CG in order to get the larger tank for the glow motor.

Check the lower stringers and replace if they look weak. I never had one fail in flight, but easy to damage during handling.

Thanks Nuts, I'll check those stringers. I suppose there's enough room in the nose for a 24 oz tank, huh? I figure that's minimum I'll need for the Moki.

Also, in your opinion, how will it balance w/ the Moki? I don't know what the BME weighs, but if memory serves, the Moki weighs around 50 ozs w/ a BCM muffler.

Balance

You should be OK with the Moki on balance. The BME is about the same and that worked with no extra weight added. You have a lot of space fore and aft to mount your battery to adjust for balance.

I used a pull - pull set up on mine, with the elevator servos in the rear. If You cross the pull pull cables, they will clear a former back in the rear of the fuse.

One other note. I put a square of plywood on the root rib with a blind nut so that I could use a bolt from the inside to hold on the wings instead of the dowel into the wings. Personnal preference.

On the new kit, Airwild did this same thing as well.

Good luck with it, you'll like it.

This was my first "real" IMAC airplane, flew real nice, won "Basic" at a major competition with it. I had a BME 2.7 up front. Only comment I have is be careful about weight aft of the C.G. and get some new landing gear from TNT. The gear supplied with the kit will bend even on the most gentle landing and like the other post said, it is too short to give you comfortable prop clearance. Got any other questions, just give drop me a line. welcome to the club!
