Default Rabbit 20 Lb Thrust

Was reading in another thread that the Rabbit is now rated at 20 lb of thrust. Anyone have any information on this? And, can current Rabbits be upgraded to 20 lbs of thrust?

Sailing 1:

Correct, all Rabbits . . .that is all Rabbits which are Kero start are now 20lb thrust. Additionally, we introduced the Rhino KS today.

Eric, is the Rhino KS updated with anything else besides the KS? Mine will be coming into you in the near future (it already has the ECU with Ceramic Ign) and possibly looking to get it updated with the new KS system and the larger size starter motor.

THanks

Eric,
My Rabbit is about 3 hours away from sending in for service. So the obvious questions for me are: Can my Rabbit be upgraded to Kero Start and gain the extra pound of thrust? If yes, what is involved? And finally, what is the cost?

Hi to all
All Rhinos can be upgraded to KS but the cost will depend on software version among some other things
The parts needed to replace are the battery, the gas solenoid, in earlier models the starter, we have to install the internal burner and change software version (5.4 or grater) or replace ECU (5.39 or lower)

Juan, I run a two cell 5000mah lipo
I have a newer version ECU as I have the ceramic element instead of glow plug

So what would the cost be for
the starter
and the newer valve for the KS

I will not need the battery and this would be done during the 25 hour service that is coming up on the turbine.

This is Larry in carlsbad, NM

thanks

Hello sailing1
Your rabbit can be converted to kerostart but not to the extra pound

What exactly changed to get the extra thrust?

Will Jet Central be updating their website anytime soon to reflect the rating change?

I often wondered about the thrust difference between the Rabbit and Merlin 90. The extra two pounds is why I bought a Merlin.

Larry:

Software upgrade is at no charge since you have the later version ECU. Battery you have will be fine. The important thing with LiPo is a minimum 20c rating.

Kero conversion including burner, internal burner fuel system, new case (required) kero start solenoid will be $400.

Upgrade to the new starter which includes, starter, housing, housing cover will be $125.

All conversion parts will be covered under the terms of our Lifetime warranty as will your Rhino after service.

Best regards,
Eric

joeflyer:

www.jetcentralusa.com already reflects the change to the Rabbit Kero start data.

While many things reflect thrust produced it is not related to any single component, parameter or rpm change. For these reasons, gas start Rabbits may not be upgraded.

Thanks for the question

I have a Rabbit KS that I bought last July 2010 so would that mean I just need a firmware update to get the 20lb rating? Thanks.

Marty:

Please either post your serial number or email it to me @ [email protected] . I will review your records and respond.

leopaul:

The same, please post your serial number or email it to me. Records will be reviewed and you will be advised.

Readers. . .if you own or will be purchasing a kero start Rabbit, your thrust is at 20lbs . Real thrust . . .not advertised thrust.

Thankyou,
Eric
