Default Flames on landing.

Loving the Rabbit in my Piroti Rebel. However have now on 2 occasions after a issue free flight had a large flame, (2 feet ) on trying to power up on final approach or just after landing on taxi. A restart poses no issues afterwards. The one thing that I have noticed is that the small plastic cap on the starter motor is loose and hangs out a bit. it will push back in and stay there but is loose. Could this be the cause of the flame issue?
From what I see that cap should retain the shaft of the motor Is this correct?

First, it sounds like the acceleration delay is set too aggressive (fast) and as a result, the turbine cannot respond fast enough. Go to the RUN menu, then to "accel delay" and check setting. Note this prior to changes. If setting is Fast or Very Fast, reduce (data down) one setting. This is for all PowerPack versions of the Rabbit and Rabbit SP. If it is not a PP version, acceleration delay will be numerical. Again, note the setting and INCREASE the number (ie; 12 increase to 16 ) and try again.

Small black cap is a filler type gromet. It does not hold the starter shaft in place. So, nothing to worry about here. Just press it back in . . .

Cheers,
Eric

Thanks Eric,
Ok so if the motor is loose inside the housing the problem would be ?
Is it possible that the with the motor being loose inside the housing that it may be causing some friction on the turbine, enough to prevent it from spooling up according to the fuel that the ecu is delivering, that it would cause the flame ?

No, once the start sequence is complete and the turbine is at idle running Ok, the starter motor has disengaged ( separate from Compressor nut) and free from turbine. The starter motor will not re engage until the cool down cycle is beginning.

Ok so what I can't explain is why the starter motor will not engage unless I am holding the cap in ? with the cap out the motor is moving around inside the housing .?
