Failsafe settings

After discussing this with a flying buddy, I wanted to get some clarification why Jet Central's recommended setup for failsafe is different than Xicoy's recommendation. JetCentral's setup programs the radio to stick low/trim low which will shutdown the engine which works but the ECU will just see it as a "user shutdown". This will also give an immediate shutdown. Xicoy's setup is similar to Jetcat in that you set the failsafe pulse width outside the normal throttle parameters and the ECU sees this as a true failsafe condition giving you two seconds(AMA's max time to shutdown) to get communications back as well as recording the event as a failsafe as opposed to a user shutdown. Thanks.

OK, is everyone using the setup as per the JC manual?

Marty:

In accordance with the AMA and following your radio manufacturers recommended procedure(s) for setting failsafe is the only recommendation we have. I personally set my failsafe to: controls neutral, gear down, throttle low w/ idle cut off and flaps 15. I do this on each jet I set up. Of the previous statement, the throttle low and throttle trim to idle cut off are the mandatory. Make sure to re bind following the fail safe set up.
