HP5 Max Rotor RPM'S
Is there any reason why the max rotor rpm's where set to 1290?
The HP5/ JetcopterSX would respond better with a higher rotor speed, this would also speed up the tail giving more authority for turns. I would like to see rotor speed up to 1,600 if possible.
I had my first two flights today and it felt sluggish in the air and needed a lot of up elevator to slow it down from forward flight, Are there any plans to up the max speed?

I am interested also. The max rpm on mine is 94,000 rpm, 1270 headspead I have heard it can be changed to 104000 rpm, 1450 headspeed.

cwrightson, the max rpm was set to limit the loads placed on the belts in the drive system, you can upgrade your lower drive gear to a speed up gear and this will get you to 1450 head speed @ 94000 turbine speed. If you increase your turbine to a higher speed the belts will fail due to centrifugal loads.

Are you absolutely positive about the belt failure? I called a factory rep and he had me change the ECU by putting in a code and then changed the max limit to 103000 rpm wich gives me 1400 head speed. He asked me the serial # on the turbine wich is 00355 and said it will work fine.

1400 on the head speed will be fine, some of the older units had some belt issues but now with the new thinner belts you should have no problems with the belts holding up. You will notice in increase in fuel consumption. I ran mine higher than 1400 and had zero problems.
