P120sx problem - no heater?
Hello all,
I'm trying to diagnose a P120sx (new, run twice w/o problems on test-stand, now in plane) problem
It looks like the burner element does not heat up. When trying to start, it starts pulsing the valve, and pumping etc. but no ignition. Freshly charged lipo.
Engine gets flooded and just quits.
When I try the burner test in the GSU, i do'nt measure any significant current increase (clamp meter). Does the burner test function start the burner at full charge, or does it do some sort of measurement only?
Also, during start-up, I don't get any large current measurement (other than the starter-motor)
Could my heater already be defective?
Thanks,
Hans

Hans,
if you do the Burner Test, the keroplug will get very warm quickly (a few seconds), you can feel it just by touching the plug (the metal of it)

I have an internal plug, so feeling is a bit hard
But if it should heat up, I should measure a large current.. i'm thinking it might be broken... strange, only two starts...

you should see a pronounced increase in current with the plug heating, you should also get smoke out the tail if it fails to start, if you're getting neither you need to send her back to JetCat, this is one thing that made me leery of getting an SX series turbine.

I assume it is not a batt issue.Could be the ecu is not supplying voltage to the kero plug. I had that happen once, send both back for JC to check out.

RE: P120sx problem - no heater?
hello nightswan
I've had exactly the same pb with my brand new 120sx. i only could only make 1 start then no more ignition.return to factory to change the ignitor.anyway when u do the burner test u should see the burner turning red if you look by behind and turn a little the blades to get a space in front of the burner.this way u will be sure it s working
best regards

Update: Jetcat has the 120sx on its way back to me.
Seemed a bad connection (inside the turbine I believe) caused the error - fast service, great guys in Germany!
