A123 with ECU V6.0
Hello,
I have an ECU V6.0 with my P160SE.
Is it possible to use an A123 DURALITE battery instead of my LIPO battery ? Which program to select ? Nicd of LIPO ?
Thanks
Jean Fi

The ECU requires a modification to operate with 3 cell A123 packs. This is done in the US for US$25, I am not sure what the charges are in Germany.
You could set the ECU to 8 cell NiCad.

RE: A123 with ECU V6.0
Mr. Matt,
I have a P-80SE on the way. Will it support A123 or do I need to send the ECU back in once I receive it? How can you tell if the ECU is A123 ready?
Thanks
Craig

As far as I know none of the ECU's supplied by JetCat are already converted to use A123's, in Germany if you have one converted the battery socket on the ECU is red instead of green, I am not sure on the US converted ones, but will know as soon as the new one I ordered arrives.

The P80 ECU I received from JetCat US converted to A123 had the same green connectors as standard, but above the battery connection it has 12V written in felt tip pen.

Hi Mike,
The ones done in the US is a hand modification. I believe the one done by Germany is a new PCB withing the ECU (I have not seen one).
I am thinking of switching over the A123 in my sport plane when it comes time to change the batteries out, maybe 6 more months.

Hi Matt
I recomend the change to A123's I am getting a consistant 0.300Mah draw out of the ECU battery for three starts, and 0.075Mah out of the flight batteries per flight, all of which means I can go at least four of five flights without worying about battery power, but if I do have any concerns I can recharge at 5Amps in the time it takes to fill the tank, I can't see any reason to go back to NiMh or LiPo's just so much piece of mind using them, and the Fromeco Kodiak switch giving the Mah read out on cumalitive flights is an added bonus.
