new P80 SE start failed and pump issue
Hello,
I have a brand new P80SE with the ECU 6.0J.
My first attemp to start failed.
The reason was the pump was not running.
So, I checked the user manual and I saw something about the pump voltage adjustment.
I have been obliged to tune up the voltage from 0.20 v to 0.325 to finally get my pump running.
Is it a normal procedure for a turbine new in the box and normally tested at the Jetcat factory ?
I never got such a trouble with my P80.
Best regards,
Alain

What if you try to manually run your pump for a minute or so with it disconnected from the engine of course. Make sure it is pumping fuel. Then try to adjust it back to 0,2 again to see if it has loosen up and starts like it is supposed to ?

KC36330,
Of course, as usual I have primed the fuel line before the first attempt.
Valve tests were also no problem.

Hello,
What do you mean by proper flow ?
Under 0,325v the pump do not start.
I forgot to mention I have the kero start V3.

setting the pump start voltage you want the pump to have a thin stream not a drip and check it several times to make sure the pump starts reliably.
if it doesn't run at all below 0.325 you may need to run it in some, hook it up to your over flow/taxi tank and let it circulate some fuel in it for an hour at 1 volt and test it again, if it still doesn't run below 0.325 then call JetCat Germany (in your case) and get a new pump.

RE: new P80 SE start failed and pump issue
I normally hook the Hausl pumps up to an old AA battery and let it recirculate some fuel/oil mix for maybe 1/2 to 1 hour (or as long as the battery lasts). This helps free up the gears.
As KC said if this does not help, contact Max at JetCat in Germany and get a new pump.

RE: new P80 SE start failed and pump issue
Hello Mr Matt,
I ran my pump in for about 30 mn and made 8 flights with my Harpoon 2.
Right now my setting for the starting voltage (Uaccelr1) is 0.275v.
Sometimes my pump starts at 0.225 and sometimes at 0.275v, is is not constant.
Is it OK or should I get a new pump ?
Again thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Alain

if 0.275 is starting every time, it's fine to be there, you may find it needs to be turned down some as the pump wears in more over time if you're getting excessive flames on startup.
