P120 Starting issues

Hi Guys

Seems like I am forever asking for help, but thats the trouble with being new to Jets.

We have just had the motor returned from JetCat after a service and upgrade. The motor has been fitted in a new Ultra Flash where I stupidly crushed the power pin on the top of the Kerostart with the wing.

The first thing we noticed was the CPU would not initialise correctly and stopped with the a flashing red light on the onboard lights and the glowplug symbol flashing on the GSU.

Acording to the manual this means that the glowplug/kerostart is faulty. We have changed the Keroplug with a new one and checked all the wiring but the same fault lights keep flashing.

Has anyone had a similar fault, and any idea how to fix the problem?

How did you check the wiring? I would look for damage inside the rubber boot connector that goes on the ignitor.

Hi

I have checked the ignitor cable as far as it goes into the motor. I have also checked the three way cables from the motor back to the ECU. Both cables were check with an Ohm meter, but the thicknes of the cable is far to thick to measure any loss, so it was just showing continuity.

Should there be any voltage at the top of the kerostart during the initialisation process?

I am stumped [:o]

Peter

I had the same indications on my GSU they cleared once I re-learned the RC, I can only think this clear's the information in the GSU and resets the data/GSU?

If your keroplug is positioned so that it can be hit by the wing, I have a feeling that you could get in trouble. The recommended postion for the keroplug is between 9 and 3 o'clock (so that the plug is "up" when the plane is started). This also places the temp sensor at the optimum position
