Default Jett Turbo Muffler

Bob, I have a turbo muffler I would like to disassemble so that I can dress up some dings and scratches and then polish it before reassembly.

Do you have an exploded diagram, of how it is assembled? Is the cover pressed on or screwed on?

Thanks!

ummmmmmmm

There are no diagrams, but Id recommend not disassembling it if possble.

I have had mine apart (not on purpose) but that is up to you.

It is pinned, loctited and also the center bolt.

Put a mark on it for alignment if needed.

Bob

Okay, thanks! The center bolt could be left off, the cap and body are so tight. I hadn't thought about an alignment mark, thanks. I have seen the patent views so I can understand the importance of the alignment.

I thought it had been disassembled once before by the previous owner because there is a lot of silicone everywhere that frankly looked kind of sloppy.

Poking a micro light inside the thing I can see there is a screw sticking up. So I can tell part of the insides are bolted together.

The only way I can figure out how to get this thing apart is to build a jig to hold the backside tightly. And then tap the center hole on the front side for a bolt and then use a small slide hammer to impact it apart it once it gets hot enough. And that means whatever I build to hold the thing would have to be able to withstand around 450-500°F.

I have scraped out as much silicone as I can see from the insides.

Maybe I will stop messing with it. Maybe I wont..........

I sanded the flat top and bottom first on a table. Then I chucked it in a lathe to sand the outside and I cut the decorative rings. I will polish it next.
