ooops! its the DX8 I also notice it on the DX6I except it doesn't go to the last hash mark on the upper and lower travel of stick

I always figured those marks were there for decoration - never worried about them so long as the TX was working.

Not sure about the Spektrum range, but... on JR radios, when you have 3 digital trims and an analogue on the throttle, there are typically stick travel limiters fitted on the throttle stick.

On all dig trims or all analogue trims, then the limiters are removed so as to allow ful travel and more importantly allows the user to carry out stick mode change.

Does the DX8 allow you to change the stick mode ?

Mechanical conversion is required to switch between modes 1 and 2 or between modes 3 and 4. The centering spring for elevator and the friction straps for throttle must be engaged on the appropriate gimbal and throttle limiting wedges must be swapped.
Found it on Page 39 of the pdf.

So it is the throttle limiters that cause the restrictive movement.
