DX 8 and a Knife Edge Mix
The DX8 is very easy to use but I am puzzled when I came to a Knife Edge Mix. I wanted to mix rudder to elevator. I went into mix 5 and looked. I set master as rudder and then looked for elevator to slave. Here is my problem. I cannot find elevator. I see Lelev and Relev as selections. If I pick one I expect only one elev will move when I use the rudder?? In most of my transmitters I used prior to the DX8 I found Elev as a choice, never each elevator side seperated.
Going another step further I wanted a Rudder to Aileron mix. Same thing. I see Rail and Lail as choices to slave to the rudder. I do not see just aileron as I have seen in past used transmitters.
I tried many things. Just cannot get the mixes to work. If I select mix 1 and do Rudder to Relev it works but only with rudder deflection one direction.

If you pick REL then it will mix to both elevators to move in the same direction.
If you pick LEL, then it will mix as you expect to the left side, but opposite to the right side. This is called "Back Mixing" and it's a feature you normally find in a higher-end radio.
If you want more details on how to use it, take a look at the "6-channel glider" configuration on the Spektrum Community site (where you go to download updates). One of the tabs is for model configurations. There's a great write-up on the page there.
As for "only in one direction" you need to enter values for BOTH "Rate" entries. It works, I've done it myself.

RE: DX 8 and a Knife Edge Mix
Thank you both for your advice I did the mix rudder to Relev and put percentages in both rates. I needed up elev with rudder for going both wayys and got it. Top rate negative % bottom rate positive %. Problem I had was figuring out positive and negative %'s and where to put them, top rate or bottom rate.
I did another thing trying this stuff all out. I left Tail as normal in Wing Type window. I used mix 1 for Elev to aux 2, top and bottom rate 100%. Both elevators worked as usual. Then I did a Mix 2 Rudder to Elevator and a mix 3 rudder to aux 2. Rates in Mix 2 and 3 were top rate negative % and bottom rate positive%. The knofe edge worked as wanted up elevator on knife edge. Did not check to see how trims were working. Will do that tomorrow.

RE: DX 8 and a Knife Edge Mix
You can turn trims off (Trim Include) on each and every mix. It depends on what you're doing if you want it enabled.
You might also want to think about using Flight Mode Trims (Trim Setup screen). This will give you a different set of trims for each flight mode. If you use the FMODE switch for your KE mix, you would have independent trims during KE vs. normal flying.
