Spektrum DX 7S
Can anyone advise what is going on with delivery on the DX 7S? It has moved from September to October and now to November.
I really want to get into the Spektrum radio, but can't afford anything more than a 7 channel.
Doesn't seem to make much sense to buy an older model.

Take a look at Hitec Aurora 9 radio. 9 channels, touch screen, more features , lower cost Rxs and bullet proof RF link. I am sure it is price competitive if you shop around compared to 7S.

I don't think you'll any more slipping on the date on the DX7s any more.

One has to believe that something is up. I was going to get one back in June and it keeps being pushed back. But I would rather have them ship when they work and have the bugs ironed out before planes start falling out of the sky. The nice thing about the new generation with the SD cards is that the firmware can be updated. I sort of thing HH pulled the plug on the DX7 too soon, but there were probably reasons that were not evident to us, maybe even the deal with JR expired since that was the case the DX7 used.
But loads of us are looking forward to the DX7S. I would order one if I thought I would see it by year end.....

i think the push back is to build up excitement for the radio as well a work out bugs in the radio system. i just cant wait to actually get one im saving up and the push back is kinda helping me save just that much more before it comes out.

This was supposed to be out in June, so something is up A lot of people wish they would have kept the DX7 going until the S came out, but I am sure there is a story to that too. I plan to order a DX7S this week and hope to be surprised someday when the UPS truck drops it off...whenever....

Info from my LHS:
He said he is supposed to receive his shipment of DX7S radios on November 17.
He also told me something interesting about JR and Spektrum. I had always assumed JR and Spektrum were one and the same. He said no they were not. Spektrum licensed the JR radio housing to use for the original DX7 radio. In return, JR licensed the Spektrum 2.4 Ghz system for their own JR radios. This partnership has lasted for years. But not much longer apparently. Supposedly JR has to pay Spektrum for each radio sold that has the Spektrum system in it. Likewise, Spektrum has to pay JR for each radio sold with a JR designed housing. Now recently, JR refused to let Spektrum license one of their radio housings for the DX8 and so Spektrum had to design their own radio housing. That is why the DX8 and now DX7S look different than the JR radios. He said he thought that JR and Spektrum would be going their own separate ways soon.

That's the rumor mill. It has no basis in fact. We still work very closely and cooperatively with JR, and I don't foresee any change to that.
The part that's right is that we are separate companies. JR is fully Japanese, HH is fully American (with offices around the world).

The DX7s is based on the current DX8 (v2.02 code) which I think you'll find has been pretty reliable.

I really hope your right. My DX7 is getting worn and I need a replacement. After what I've seen with the DX8 "growing pains" when they first were released I think I'll sit back and see how first batch is received by the end users.

Well, end of November and no sign of DX7S. Wonder if it will show up by Christmas. If these are going to be completely unavailable for months to come, wish HH would offer a reasonable deal for a DX8

Bob one of the local Futaba guys here won a DX8 at a club fly in a few weeks back and has it posted in the market place here on RCU for 350 bucks.....
