I just updated firmware and now have the ability to get to the flight mode table to be able to assign switch position to Fmodes. I did forget to copy models to my SD card before hand! Now I have a hole lot of programming to do.

Really? Updating your firmware shouldn't have wiped out your models

He went from a 50-model version to 250-model version. That always wipes out models.

Ahh yes, I forget that not all the 18's were 250 models.

I have a friend with a DX18 with firmware 1.01 I believe, and I had taken my SD card that has the current firmware on it and when he tried to update his radio with my SD card, the radio didn't update. Are there prerequisite firmwares that must be done before the most current firmware is uploaded?

Each update is serialized to match the transmitter. His radio won't load your file. Have your friend register his radio and download the update.

NOTE: HE NEEDS TO BACK UP HIS MODELS! The update will convert from 50-model to 250-model memory, and doing so wipes out all the current models, unfortunately.

I noticed my right gimbal's travel throw up and down is more that the left gimbal.
Upon further investigation it looks like there is a plastic spacer missing from inside that limits the travel. Any reason for this?
Both my gen1 and gen2 dx18s have this issue. Thanks

They are called "throttle wedges" and they are there to limit travel of the throttle stick. When you change between Mode 1 and Mode 2, they are moved with the throttle stick. This is why you need to recalibrate after changing modes.

If you need more details, I've explained it more thoroughly in the past on RCG. You can find explanations in dx8 threads going back six years.

It's not an issue, its a feature
