Default JR 9503

Does anyone know why you can't find the new JR9503?
Are there problems with the transmitter?

Called Horizon and they said the software upgrade was just finalized and I would have to send my 9503 back in for the upgrade.  They also advised that I save all my setting with the data transfer system as it is a complete reflash.  They also sent me a postage free tag for shipping.

Horizon does a great job on upgrading 2.4ghz radios. They upgraded half of my receivers(the other half did not need it) and they all work perfect.

If you have a lot of planes, you could try the JR PC data transfer system. I have almost 20 planes in my x9303 saved on my PCs(Windows XP & Windows 7)

I received the JR9503(upgraded) today and transferred all the planes in my 9303 without any problems.(one at a time)

The backlit display is very good and the timer start on the throttle is nice. Comes with a paperback manual.

Had to rebind each plane with the 9503.

Yes, I have the DTS and it has been kicking my duff trying to install it.  I finally got it working this morning and saved my data to the puter.  I will send it in tomorrow and hopefully it will be back before the end of next week.  I understand that this new radio get top priority when in comes in and has the quickest turn around to get it back.   I can't wait to get it back.

Seems like it should have been thoroughly tested before I got mine just two weeks ago. Hodges had to order mine in from Horizon...Why would they continue to ship them out without the software upgrades? Now, I get to send it back? My first experience with JR and my last. I will probably be the only guy in the nation to use an x9503 for BNF models only. Oh well - I'll get over it....and probably enjoy it once they get all the bugs worked out.

This issue only impacts the "auto land feature/auto flaps" and model memory above 30 models. If this these are not employed in the programming, the Tx can be used and sent back at your convenience.

I have using mine without issue and will return it when convenient to do so. I certainly do not need these functions for IMAC. But, these issues should have been discoved prior to delivery, the lack of QA is appalling for sure.

I sent mine in last Friday afternoon.  I will be back home next Saturday night and should have mine back.  I was flying my DX7 this last satursay and what a difference.  I will probably sell both of my DX7's and get another 9503.

In this day and age there is nothing sold that is error free anymore.  From cars to airplanes to computers, etc.  They all have some problems.  I have found that I just have to work through it and then I have a good product.

I am a little miffed with JR and this problem and I am not sure they know what the problem is. I checked my 9503 and it is in the group that is affected by the recall. I have models programmed above model #31 and have never had to rebind them. I have not had a chance to check out the Auto Land/Auto Flap feature. And why do I have to send it back for a simple flash update? That should be easily accomplished with a downlaod and install using the PC Data Transfer program.

Great question MP.  You need to call horizon and see what they can do for you.  Let us know what happens.

Does anybody have one that’s not affected?

HH/JR don’t seem to realize what a pain this is – have 23 models programmed & flight worthy; even using model locations above 31, flaps/landing system is DOA.

There’s gotta a better way – and at lower cost to them, than needing to send it back!

I’m not happy at all!

PS: there's sticker on tyhe outside of the box too:

Well, I just wanted to vent a little and I'm sure they are going fast as possible to fix this issue. Maybe they rushed a little to get the features that are on the 10C (which is my main system) and made an oversight. Luckily, no real harm done and that is a good thing!

I do know that Horizon will pay the shipping both ways for the software upgrade and the 9503 has top priority in turnaround, like one day.

Jrb1, think negative and it will happen.  They told me on the phone it would take up to 6 days to get the return shipping tag.  I had mine in 20 min.  2 days there, 1 day work and 2 days back.  Send it on a Monday and have it back on a Friday.  It doesn't get any better than that.  I personally think the guys at Horizon do a great job of dealing with a very difficult group, us!!!

Keep us posted Barry as to when you send yours in; and the get it back.

Next day delivery would be the only way I could see Send it Monday get it no later than Friday have never seen UPS ground do better than 2 days.

Read some place that they need to "flash" the memory and that it meant opening up the TX that'll take more than a few minutes of Tech time.

If it doesn't need to be opened we should be able to do it!

For some reason I get all my UPS and Fedex regular shipping from Tower and Horizon in 1-2 days.  I am sure it is just luck of the draw as my location to the hub of shipping.

Anyway I dropped my 9503 off last Friday early afternoon at the UPS store.  I will let you know when it arrives back.

Has it arrive at HH yet Barry?

If yes, you might have luck in getting it back NLT Friday bat that was cheating you sent before Monday!
