DX9 rudder double rate problem
Hello,
I seem to have a problem with the double (triple rate) switch of the rudder on my DX8 radio.
When the switch is moved from 0 to 1 or from 1 to 2 the servo (DS821) rotates a notch .
If the switch is set at 0 and the rudder is centered and thereafter it is set to 1 the rudder moves to the right. If the switch is now set at 2 the rudder moves again to the right.
If the switch is set back at 0, the rudder is centered again.
I checked to see if there was any mixing, but I did not see any.
I changed the servo with one of the same brand and number and the same thing happened.
There is no problem with the other double rate switches on the radio.
Any insight to this problem ?

Can you post the SPM file here? It will make it much easier for me to sort it out.
One things you can look for: Make sure the Trim Setup screen shows them in Common mode (vs. F-Mode).

I'd start by making sure that centered rudder has no trim or sub trim, and the travel is the same for right and left rudder.
(With the switch disabled) Next with the switch enabled, make sure that the settings for each deflection (R,L) are the same.
Once you get to the point that there is no movement, you can start setting the desired deflections for each switch position.
If needed, refer to the manual.

Hi Tom,
You should update the radio code to 3.01.
I see you have 0 on the rudder trim. If you're seeing deflection then you need to calibrate the sticks. The tick of movement is because it thinks the stick is off-center, and the different rates cause it to deflect slightly.
Follow the instructions here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1476084

Hello Andy,
I have loaded code version 3.01. Thank you.
Where can I find the link to the service bulletin related to the calibration of the sticks ?
The link you posted deals with the subject but the procedure is not evident from the replies.

You should download the PDF that came with version 3.01. It describes all the changes that have been made since the initial release. It's basically brief updates for the manual.
It tells you how to get to the calibration screen, but it's the same as for all AirWare radios:
Go to the System Settings screen. Select NEXT until you get to the Cal screen. Move the sticks gently in a plus sign shape, !!NOT!! by going around the edges (ie, NOT moving in circles). Center them. Notice the ?? has changed to OK. Rotate the knob to both extremes and center it. Click DONE.
