Left aileron Control
JR and Spektrum offer control of the left aileron by way of the aux channel on dual aileron servo equipped planes. My problem is that the left aileron often does not match the control deflection of the right aileron. How do you fix this problem?

There are "canned" mixes for that which automatically select the second channel for two aileron servos or two elevator servos. On the JR, you must go into the device select screen in the setup menu and inhibit all the channels above #4. Then when you define the model, you select which wing configuration and elevators setup that you have and the radio will select the second channel and mate it which will enable trim following as well. If you do not inhibit the channels like the JR will look for AUX1 as the second aileron channel and I don't remember which one it picks for the second elevator, it will not mate them as it sees that channel as not available.
Spektrum is more intuitive and when you start setting up a model, it will ask you for the wing type and servo count as well as the tail type and servo count and set them up. Do not change either of these settings later on or it will erase the rest of the model settings that you've installed.

For the JR 9303 and later transmitters, including the XG series, the quickest and easiest way to set up dual ailerons without single or dual flaps is to go to the Wing Type menu and change the wing type from NORMAL to FLAPERON. When you this, the sixth channel which is normally designated as FLAP or AUX1, is turned into the left aileron channel. There is no need to inhibit channels in the DeviceSEL to make this change. Since the sixth channel is no longer usable as the flap channel, you can’t have single or dual flaps using the FLAPERON wing type.
The FLAPERON wing type automatically adds the flaperon attribute to the ailerons. This means that on the 9303 and 9503 if the FLAP SW or whatever switch you designate as the flap switch in the DeviceSEL is in its up (POS0) position, both ailerons will rise 100%. If the switch is in its down (POS2) position, both ailerons will droop 100%. Only in its middle position will the ailerons be neutral. For the other JR transmitters, the default flaperon positions for the flap switch are neutral for POS0 and POS1 and down for POS2.
Some people find the flaperon attribute to be a problem because they forget about the flap switch affecting the aileron position. There are a couple of ways to inhibit the attribute. One can simply go to the FLAP SYS menu in the Function List and change all the settings to zero. Another which works on all the transmitters except the 11X2.4 with the version 1 software is to go to the DeviceSEL menu and change the FLAP channel output from SYS to INH. On the 11X2.4 with the version 1 software if the output is inhibited, the aileron trim ceases to work on the left aileron.
Regardless of the transmitter model, don’t use a program mix to mate another channel to the aileron, elevator, rudder, or flaps to get dual surfaces. For these channels, the program mix does not transfer the trim and other master channel attributes to the slave channel.
