Default I'm to GD stupid to set up dual effing rates

Spektrum dx8 (new black one)
***.
So, I have the adj. travel set as 2048 and 1. That is how it was before.
I want to use switch D for normal, dual rate 1 and dual rate 2.
I am a total idiot! I cannot get the travel to change when switching the switch D from "0" to "1" to "2"
HOW GD STUPID CAN A GUY BE?
I could program my JR and it was 100 times more of a PITA.

So, when does adj. travel come in to play.
When do I adjust my dual rates to NOT have max throw in all position.

2048 is the DSMX frame rate/resolution . It is not the travel adjustment for the channels.

To set the travel adjustments ,press the scroll wheel to enter model program menu and you will see "Servo Setup" .Highlight that and press the scroll wheel. Now you will see Travel Adjustment and below all of the channels. Adjust each channels throws from 0 to 150%,

To adjust a channels dual rates go back to the model menu and right below Servo Setup will be D/R & Exponential . click on that and when it opens the Aileron channel will be first.
To assign a switch scroll down and highlight Switch then press the scroll button . Now simply move the switch you want and it will assign it. Press the scroll button again to enter it. Now you can scroll back up and adjust the rates for high and low or if you are using a 3 position switch; high ,mid, and low rates.
Highlight Aileron and scroll to change it to elevator and then rudder and set each up the same way.

So don't use dual rates. Set your throws to what the high rate would be and use expo to tame the middles. I've seen more crashes happen because guys are grabbing switches all over their radio when an emergency happens. Personally I think dual rates are a stupid idea.
I have never ever used dual rates and never will. even on my 3D planes and turbines.

I got it figured out. I wasn't high lighting the box at the bottom for switch position. The little black dot was there but not blacked out. I set them up on the switch f I think. Anyway.... handy to see what I like. Then might go to one setup, or two.
I appreciate the help.

I'm not into suggesting what others should do, but I'm with you regarding dual rates.... Since exponential came on the scene, I don't use dual rates. No more take off and landings for me on high rates.

I appreciate the input. I have a banged up left hand. I am just a sport guy.
I can not (without 60% expo or something ridiculous) use max throws for beating up a plane in the air, then go to landing without a different sensitivity.
Well, I guess I could... but maybe I am just lazy, or used to the old ways... as I said, I have been out of this hobby for 15 years.

Our clubs best flyer scolds himself when forgetting and taking off or landing on high rates as it is significantly more challenging. Expo is good.

I use both dual rates and expo when appropriate. Don't let the self proclaimed experts beat you down. Do what works for you.

Dual rates are used by many flyers. I don't.... but that is simply a personal thing that has zero bearing on those who do. If I came across otherwise, my bad.
