Recalled 8411s sold as new 8311s
Hello Danny,
Wonderfull service you provide, thankyou!
I recently purchased a new, sealed ds8311 from a local shop and two ds8311s presented as new from a well known online helicopter shop. The ones the online shop sent came in a box marked 8411 and the factory seal had been broken and taped up. Inside the 8411 box I found servos marked 8311 with a silver sticker on the bottom and a nylon output gear. The sealed 8311 I got locally had the correct box, an alloy output gear, and no sticker.
Are the servos with the stickers recalled 8411s? If so, is horizon aware that authorized retailers are selling the recalled servos as new? Lastly, why do the two servos have a different output gear, and which one is correct?
Thanks for the help, I'm a little confused over here

I appreciate the effort, I realize some of the questions might be a little difficult to answer.
I posted some pictures of both here:

The ones labeled "new8311" were purchased locally, the ones labeled "recalled8411" were purchased from Rick's R/C Helicopters where they are advertised as a new ds8311.

The recall is only for 8411s to be used in Helicopters,

My guess is that the 8311 you received in the 8411 case was either a problem in packaging, or the hobby store sent in 8411's to have them converted to 8311's and they didn't get repackaged. In either case, it would not be a used servo, it would be a true 8311. A servo coming with a cut label on the case can be the result of that servo being through packaging here at Horizon to insert instructions, and/or it has gone through our QA process, so a cut label with a piece of scotch tape would not be cause for saying a servo is used. The 8311 should have the metal output gear, and the rest nylon, just like the 8411SA. If you would like to send those servos in to me, I will get these problems corrected for you.

Thanks for the offer, but I decided to return them to the retailer, and buy a pair of sealed servos from the LHS.
