does the 10x have the ability for the user to change the stick mode say from mode 1 to mode 2 without voiding the warranty. I have seen the 9x in australia and hong kong and they tell me the 9x has the ability for the user to change the mode in the software itself. I was assuming 10x could do the same but wanted to make sure.

no you must open the transmitter to change stick mode, swith trim and sping.
i think horizon make it for you,or alternately mail me and i explain you how to make

That is correct, the system must be sent in to have the mode changed.

what kind of cost is associated with the change from mode 1 to 2?

The cost for that will be between $15 and $30 depending on if there are any other problems or complications.
