Default 6102 buddy compatable with a 8103?

Hello
Just saw the new radio and thinking of getting one for my first helicopter.......
I was looking at the 8103 but for the price/features the 6102 looks better......

All the guys at the field who fly heli's have the 8103...... will they still be able to "buddy cord" with me if I have a 6102?
What issues might there be?
Thanks!

Yes, you can use the 6102 in a buddy set up with any JR system with a dsc and the necessary software, this includes most systems produced except for a couple very old systems. With the 6102 pilot link functions, it is one of the easiest systems to use in a buddy box set up.

A trainer function. One of the only systems I can think of for recent systems that doesn't have a trainer function is the 10X heli. The 10X heli can still be used as a slave TX as it has a DSC function, but doesn't have a trainer function so it can't be the master.

I have a JR 783 radio, and I was thinking of upgrading to a newer one. The 6102 looks great to me as well. one thing I would liek to do is buddy them together, with the 783 as a slave.

Can I do this ?

Also, is the buddy cord a simple 2 wire cord, with 2 wire jacks on both ends (not even stereo ) ??

Yes, you can use that set up.

The cord isn't really a simple cord, it is a serial output cord that uses a ground and a serial wire that uses coding to send the signal from one system to the other.

THanks!

That is good to know (about the cord), so I won't buy a simple one from Radio Shack.

I have used a "simple one" as a trainer chord and for my old csm simulator as a interface cable and It worked fine. What gives? What am I missing here?
Thanks for the info...

So will a JR Trainer cord and master radio work with a Futaba slave or vice versa??

No, not the standard trainer cord. We do have a new product coming out called the TrainerLink from Hangar 9 that allows a JR system to be buddy boxed with a Futaba system. This works with most Futaba systems except the 9C. It is part number HAN173.

Will this cord that allows a JR and Futaba to work together work with the following ?

JR radio (such as my JR 783), and the Futaba 4YF Buddy Box (not really a transmitter) ?

I believe that it will. As long as the Futaba system has a 6 pin trainer jack, it should work.
