Default What is the diode in the charge circuit on my 8103 for?

I know it is not necessary to remove this diode for cycling using the TX charge jack, but I removed it before I knew this and I have lost the diode since.
Is there any way I can get the actual diode part number to replace it? Or is it only necessary to protect against possible reverse polarity jacks since JR is opposite of all others?

The radio works fine, I am just hoping to get an answer on the diodes function. Thanks for any help.

The diode prevents CPU damage in the event of a reverse polarity. It does not however prevent all possible damage, if reverse polarity occurs, there will likely be damage, but the diode helps prevent costly repairs.
