Default HP8103 with Hitec Micro 555 receiver and Flaperons

Hello Danny:

I am trying to use an XP 8103 in Flaperon mode with a Hitec Micro 555 receiver with five servos. THis requires a y-harness for battery/channel 5 connection. Everything works fine except the flaperon which is plugged into the y-harness. It is getting juice but none of the controls on the radio seem to connect to it. I don't know if it is a receiver or a transmitter issue but I thought I would try here first.

Regards,
Jeff

The flaperon function uses channel 2 and 6, if you are using a 5 channel receiver you can not use the flaperon function. If you are using a Y harness though, all you need to do is to plug the Y into channel 2 and have aileron function. If you want to eliminate the Y harness, you could mix aileron to gear in mix 5 or 6 and use channel 5 as a second channel.

Thanks. I will try mixing ailerons with channel 5. I have tried the Y harness in channel 2 and it works but, correct me if I am wrong, you can't adjust travel and subtrim independantly that way.

That is correct, the only adjustments available when using a Y harness are mechanical adjustments.

OK, Mixing aileron and gear channels resolved the problem. I now have ailerons that are electronically adjustable for dual rates and for differential. One probelm remains. When I was setting up the dual rates, I accidentally hit the gear switch on the radio and, you guessed it, the "Gear" went down. The right aileron suddenly drops all the way. If that happens in flight, well, lets not let that happen. Is there a way to disable the gear switch?

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes, set up a program mix, using mix 3 or 4, and make the mix a gear to gear mix, and then set the rates at -100% in both switch positions. The value in the percentage of the mix will need to match the travel adjust settings for the gear channel.

Thanks. I will try it. Is that in the manual anywhere?

I don't believe that particular mix is, but you can find more information about programming the 8103 here. http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/shar...amming-air.pdf
