Danny, I just bought a nib 6102 on E-Bay before I knew about the diode issue. When it arrives, how can I tell if it's an updated model? Is it safe to try and fast charge or cycle it to see if it works? I would slow charge it first.

Yes, that is how you can tell, try using a cycler and try to cycle the pack. This will show if it has the diode or not. The diode will not prevent fast charging, but will prevent most peak detect chargers from working correctly.
