Default 10x Range Testing

Hi Danny: Recently I completed a lot of range testing with my 10X-antenna removed. This was a turbine powered airplane, so I was doing tests rotating the airplane each 90 degrees with and without the turbine ECU powered up and then with the turbine running etc. There were times when the 10X was turned on for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. I am now concerned that I may have damaged the output transistor. Is that transistor located in the RF module? What are your thoughts? I don't want to put an expensive airplane at risk.

Thanks in advance, Al

Hey Al, did you feel it while you were doing this? Once mine gets warm I shut it down for a while.

There is a chance that the output may have weakend somewhat with that length of time. The output transister is located in the module. It may be best to send it in for a check up to be certain that the output is good.

Hi Danny,
Thanks for the fast response. I ordered a new RF module from Horizon this morning to save some time. I will send this module in for check up later in the year- I have a couple of servos and receivers that need work so they can all go together. The range testing that I did gave me very good results so I assume that with the new module if I check the weakest azmuth/ condition and get equal to or better results everything should be OK. I dont want to repeat all the tests unless you think I should. What do you think?
Thanks Again,
Al

That should be fine to do, if you have a known condition that was the weakest, and compare. They will likely be very similar in performance.
