Default JR Crystals

I just picked up 2 used Channel 29 crystals to change the frequency on a couple of my PPM receivers. I noticed on these crystals that there are 3 squares on the bottom of the each crystal's faceplate, two of which are transparent and one which is solid. On one of my crystals the middle one is solid, on the other the one on the left is solid. Does this mean anything?

Thanks in advance,
Kelly

It is how the crystal is cut, and relates to the tuning of the system. With the level of tuning today it doesn't really mean that much, but the dots are there to allow the user a method of having optimum performance. It is best to avoid the transmitter and receiver crystal from having opposite dots, i.e. not having one on the right and one on the left.
